I have a son in the Navy, been in for 9 years now, mostly overseas, Sicily, with EOD unit. He's currently in Iraq doing IA stuff for the army. Owns a house in Jacksonville from time he was on a DDG in Mayport. He sent home about 25 cases of Sicilian wine when he left Sigonella. Came home on leave a few weeks ago and it was weird sitting around drinking wine. We used to drink beer! Still do, but he did develop a taste for wine. He got to meet and know quite a few vineyard owners while he was over there.
So, have you been overseas? Have a boyfriend? Kids? Plan on staying in the Navy for awhile?
Hope you don't mind me sending this to you, but I thought it might help pass a little time for you! I was sitting around watching TV (no Phillies on tonight and Flyers don't play until Saturday) and getting caught up on some e-mails. (When my laptop works. She's getting older and tempermental, just like my Garmin). Got a lot going on this weekend with Memorial Day coming up. We have a parade on Monday and will be firing at a couple of memorials, and have buddy poppies at various locations. Talked my son into helping me out and got him to agree to march Monday too. This is my other son, a Sgt. in Marines, just got back from 3rd combat tour, this time Afghan. Anyway, both of them are members with me at the VFW. Kind of neat. They never have to pay for a drink when they go to the post! Not many instances of a dad and his sons belonging to the same combat veterans organization, and it has been written up in papers numerous times...last week, in fact. Well, I'm not even sure if this is going to get to you, I don't see a send button! If you get a chance and want to keep from being bored, send me an e mail and tell me about yourself. I'd give you an address that's not part of a website but am afraid it would be edited out or something. On the seeking uniform site I'm just a standard member and can't do e mails, don't think I can get any either. Got any suggestions? I'll check back here in a few days to see if you left any messages.
